Ginger Bag Quick & Easy to Sew

Ginger is a trendy, medium-sized crossbody bag! This bag features a flap closure, exterior zipper pocket, adjustable crossbody strap, and interior slip pocket. Also, I designed this bag so the Lucky Penny Wallet will fit perfectly inside. Ginger is a very quick sew, and has been designed for beginners. Choose to use cork fabric or vinyl for the contrast fabric if you’d like!  The name of this pattern was inspired by American actress, dancer, and singer, Ginger Rogers.

The finished size is 11″ wide, 10″ high, and 3″ deep.

Included are step-by-step graphics to help make the written directions easier to understand. Also included are many sewing techniques and tips to help you achieve a quality, finished project. This pattern is designed to help you learn and expand your sewing skills!

Try using our Faux Metal Zippers by the Yard for this project! Easily cut and sew through the zipper’s nylon teeth, while achieving the appearance of metal teeth. Make nine Ginger Bags from one package of Sallie Tomato Zippers by the Yard.

RECOMMENDED FABRICS: You can use quilt weight cotton, canvas, denim, or linen for the exterior. I recommend quilt weight cotton for the lining. Try using cork or vinyl for the contrast, or you can use quilt weight cotton, canvas, denim, or linen.

TIP – If making the bag from all cotton, you can eliminate the Interfacing and substitute the Fusible Fleece for Foam Stabilizer. This will result in a more structured bag.

I recommend using fabric that doesn’t fray for the contrast such as cork, vinyl, kraft-tex, or leather because some of the pieces are left as a raw edge. Quilting cotton can be used for the lining. This bag has a more professional, long-lasting finish if the recommended fabrics are used.

Beautiful lace up valance pattern, a great way to show off contrast fabrics together.  This fully lined and interlined, valance with mock pleats and lace-up ties can be adapted to fit any window width. The finished length of the valance is approximately 22 ½” in length.

This valance works best when constructed out of a medium-weight to heavy weight decorative fabric. The valance is self-lined to prevent white lining from showing to the front side.

The mock pleats are made using a contrasting fabric. The ties and piping are also out of a contrasting fabric.

This charming awning valance pattern can be adapted to fit various window widths. The finished length of the valance is approximately 24 inches in length and projects out from the wall about 7 ½”.

The Erin valance pattern works best when constructed out of a medium-weight decorative fabric. The valance works best when lined in a contrasting solid color fabric to prevent white lining from showing to the front side.

This fun, tailored valance is an unusual take on a pleated style and can be adapted to fit any size window. Our instructions are for a valance that is 42” finished width. The information needed to add to or reduce the width is included. The finished length of the valance is approximately 18” at the swag and 15 ½” at the pleated area and sides. The
pattern allows for 3 ½” returns at each side where the valance returns to the wall to cover the hardware.

We used a contrast fabric for the pleat and pleat lining. The swag sections are lined in regular drapery lining (natural or white).

We added trim to the bottom of the swag and side sections. It is not recommended to put trim across the bottom of the pleated sections as the trim has a tendency to cause the pleats to flare out.
